Crochet an Oddish

Gotta catch ‘em all! Whip up a crocheted Oddish, and it’s sure to be a hit. Made with worsted weight yarn, this finished doll measures approximately 5 inches tall.

ch: chain

sc: single crochet

sl st: slip stitch

inc: increase (2 single crochets in one loop)

dec: decrease (pull yarn through loop, pull yarn through second loop, yarn over and pull through all loops)

Materials needed:

Any worsted weight yarn. I used Red Heart Super Saver in blue and tea leaf.

G (4mm) crochet hook

Poly-fil

Yarn needle

16mm safety eyes (painted red)

Pink felt

This pattern is worked “in-the-round”, and stitches are worked through both loops unless otherwise noted. 

Head and Body:

With blue, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)

Row 1: ch 1, 5 sc inside of circle. (5 stitches)

Row 2: Inc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)

Row 3: Sc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)

Row 4: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)

Stuff tight with poly-fil. Insert safety eyes between rows 14 and 15 with 9 stitches between.

Row 25: Dec around. (10 stitches)

Row 26: Dec around. (5 stitches)

Sew end shut and tie off. Cut pink felt and sew or hot glue onto face.

Feet:

With blue, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)

Row 1: ch 1, 5 sc inside of circle. (5 stitches)

Row 2: Inc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)

Rows 3-5: Sc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)

Tie off. Don’t stuff. Position and sew onto bottom of body.

Leaves:

With tea leaf, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)

Whiskers:

With buff, ch 6, leaving a long starting tail.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each across. (5 stitches)

Tie off, leaving a long ending tail. Use tails to attach to face. Make six. Put two on each side of his face and put one on each side of his coin.

Crochet a Little Santa Hat

Want to add a cute little Santa hat to the crocheted toys you’ve been making? This simple design will work with lots of different things. Made with worsted weight yarn, it measures approximately 2 inches tall with the top folded over.

Abbreviations:

ch: chain

sc: single crochet

sl st: slip stitch

inc: increase (2 single crochets in one loop)

dec: decrease (pull yarn through loop, pull yarn through second loop, yarn over and pull through all loops)

Materials needed:

Any worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in scarlet,  and I used Bernat Pipsqueak in white.

This little mug is a great accessory for your handmade stuffies. Made with worsted weight yarn, this finished mug measures approximately 1 inch tall.

Don’t tie off. Insert plastic canvas in bottom to keep it from bulging. Stuff with poly-fil. Holding liquid over top, sc around both mug and liquid.

Handle:

With claret, ch 10, leaving a long tail. Tie off, leaving a long ending tail. Use tails to sew onto mug.

This mug looks adorable with my little green monster pattern, but would work for other stuffies as well.

Eyes:

With white, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)

Row 1: ch 1, 8 sc inside of circle. (8 stitches)

Row 2: Inc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, inc in next 2 stitches, sc in next 2 stitches, inc in last stitch. (12 stitches)

Tie off. Insert safety eye through center. Position onto face and sew or hot glue on. I find it helpful to get the beak done and position before affixing the eyes.

Beak:

With aran, ch 11.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each across. Turn and sc in other side of ch. (20 stitches)

 

Rows 2-6: Sc in each stitch around. (20 stitches)

Row 7: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)

Row 8: Sc in each stitch around. (15 stitches)

Row 9: Sc in first 2 stitches, inc in next 5 stitches, sc in last 8 stitches. (20 stitches)

Tie off. Stuff lightly. Position and sew onto face.

Body:

Working through all loops, sc across top to close, ch 1, turn. (4 stitches)

Stuff arms with poly-fil, leaving the top 2-3 rows unstuffed. Position arms so they are up on his face. Sew onto body, then sew onto face.

With charcoal, ch 6, leaving a long starting tail.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each across. (5 stitches)

Tie off, leaving a long ending tail. Make three. Use tails to attach to top of head.

Crochet a Jigglypuff

Gotta catch ‘em all! Whip up a couple of crocheted Jigglypuffs, and they’re sure to be a hit. Made with worsted weight yarn, this finished doll measures approximately 5 inches tall.

Abbreviations:

ch: chain

sc: single crochet

sl st: slip stitch

inc: increase (2 single crochets in one loop)

dec: decrease (pull yarn through loop, pull yarn through second loop, yarn over and pull through all loops)

Materials needed:

Any worsted weight yarn. I used Red Heart Super Saver in petal pink, delft blue and white.

G (4mm) crochet hook

Poly-fil

Yarn needle

Black embroidery thread

Black felt

This pattern is worked “in-the-round”, and stitches are worked through both loops unless otherwise noted. 

Head and Body:

With petal pink, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)

Row 1: ch 1, 10 sc inside of circle. (10 stitches)

Row 2: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)

Row 24: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 8 stitches, repeat from * around. (45 stitches)

Row 25: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 7 stitches, repeat from * around. (40 stitches)

Row 26: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 6 stitches, repeat from * around. (35 stitches)

Row 27: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 5 stitches, repeat from * around. (30 stitches)

Stuff tight with poly-fil. Continue stuffing as you work.

Row 28: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 4 stitches, repeat from * around. (25 stitches)

Row 29: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 3 stitches, repeat from * around. (20 stitches)

Row 30: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)

Row 31: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (10 stitches)

Row 32: Dec around. (5 stitches)

Sew end shut and tie off.

 Eyes:

With delft blue, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)

Row 1: ch 1, 5 sc inside of circle. (5 stitches)

Row 2: Inc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)

Row 3: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)

Switch to white.

Row 4: Sc in each stitch around. (15 stitches)

Tie off. Use white to sew a spot on each eye. Position on face and sew or hot glue on. Sew mouth on with embroidery thread.

Hair:

With petal pink, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)

Row 1: ch 1, 5 sc inside of circle. (5 stitches)

Row 2: Inc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)

Rows 3-6: Sc in each around. (10 stitches)

Row 7: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)

Rows 8-11: Sc in each stitch around. (15 stitches)

Row 12: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (20 stitches)

Rows 13-18: Sc in each stitch around. (20 stitches)

Row 19: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)

Stuff lightly, leaving last few rows unstuffed. Position and sew onto top of head.

Drop a couple of stitches in the front of the hair to attach it to her forehead.

Row 2: Inc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)

Row 3: Sc in each around. (10 stitches)

Row 4: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)

Rows 5-6: Sc in each stitch around. (15 stitches)

Row 7: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (20 stitches)

Row 8: Sc in each stitch around. (20 stitches)

Tie off. Flatten, position and sew onto top of head.

Legs:

Row 2: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (8 stitches)

Row 3: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 3 stitches, repeat from * around. (10 stitches)

Row 4: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 4 stitches, repeat from * around. (12 stitches)
