This month, we’re doing a crochet along, making this adorable Christmas Countdown calendar.
If you missed the first part of this pattern, the main graph and instructions, you can find it here.
Who’s ready to put some pockets on their Christmas Countdown calendar?
Pocket Graphs
Big Pockets (Make 4)
Attic and Side Pockets (Make 3)
Chimney Pocket (Make 1)
Door Pocket (Make 1)
For the big pockets, you’ll use a starting ch of 51.
For the attic pocket, the chimney pocket, the side pockets and the door pocket, you’ll use a starting ch of 11.
Use this graph to place your pockets, sewing them where the white lines are.
When sewing the pockets on, sew down one side, across the bottom, then back up the other side.
Make sure, as you’re sewing your pockets on, that you’re lining up the bobble stitches and keeping them even and straight. For the big and medium pockets, you can sew around the edges first, then go back and sew in the middle spots for the pockets, or you can sew those as you go. I sewed them as I went along to make it easier to see.
Take your time sewing the pockets on, and keep checking to make sure it’s lining up right. Remember, if you mess up, you can pull the stitches back out and start over. This is probably the most frustrating part of the pattern, so if you find yourself getting frustrated with it, just set it aside for awhile and come back to it.
Once your pockets are all sewn on, you can start on the appliques and Santa, which I’ll be posting the patterns for next week.
If you’re having any problems, feel free to message me on Facebook. I’ll have free pattern giveaways in my Facebook group for those participating, and the group is a great place to get extra help from other people who are participating in the CAL.
If you don’t want to wait for me to post parts of the pattern each week, or you want to be able to save this pattern, you can purchase the pdf on Ravelry for only $4.
See you next week!
