This month we’re working on a crochet along, making this Christmas Countdown.

This week, it’s time to make the appliques and Santa.
Windows
Square Window:
Using your G (4mm) hook and blue yarn, ch 11
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each across. (10 stitches) Ch 1, turn.
Rows 2-10: Sc in each stitch across. (10 stitches) Ch 1, turn.
Switch to green.
Sc around window, working 2 sc’s into each corner. Sl st to first sc. Tie off.
Use green yarn and your yarn needle to sew the panes on.
Make as many windows as you’d like. I made 12, but the number of windows and their placement is up to you. You can sew the windows on each pocket or hot glue them on like I did.
Round Window:
With G (4mm) hook and grey yarn, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)
Row 1: ch 1, 5 sc inside of circle. (5 stitches)
Row 2: Inc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)
Row 3: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)
Row 4: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (20 stitches)
Row 5: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 3 stitches, repeat from * around. (25 stitches)
Switch to green.
Row 6: Sc in each stitch around. (25 stitches)
Tie off.
Use green yarn and yarn needle to sew panes on.
Make 1 round window and sew or hot glue it onto the attic pocket.
Wreath:
With G(4mm) hook and green yarn, ch 15. Sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Row 1: Sc in each ch around. (15 stitches)
Row 2: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches. Repeat from * around. (20 stitches)
Tie off. Use red yarn to add “berries” to your wreath. Sew or hot glue onto the front door.
Snowman:
Bottom Ball:
With G(4mm) hook and white yarn, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)
Row 1: ch 1, 10 sc inside of circle. (10 stitches)
Row 2: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)
Row 3: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (20 stitches)
Row 4: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 3 stitches, repeat from * around. (25 stitches)
Row 5: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 4 stitches, repeat from * around. (30 stitches)
Tie off.
Top Ball:
With G(4mm) hook and white yarn, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)
Row 1: ch 1, 5 sc inside of circle. (5 stitches)
Row 2: Inc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)
Row 3: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)
Row 4: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (20 stitches)
Tie off. Sew bottom ball to top ball. Use black yarn to sew on eyes and buttons. Use orange yarn to sew on the carrot for his nose. Sew or hot glue to house, next to door.
Santa
Head:
With G(4mm) hook and skin colored yarn, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)
Row 1: ch 1, 5 sc inside of circle. (5 stitches)
Row 2: Inc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)
Row 3: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)
Row 4: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (20 stitches)
Row 5: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 3 stitches, repeat from * around. (25 stitches)
Row 6: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 4 stitches, repeat from * around. (30 stitches)
Rows 7-9: Sc in each stitch around. (30 stitches)
Row 10: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 4 stitches, repeat from * around. (25 stitches)
Row 11: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 3 stitches, repeat from * around. (20 stitches)
Row 12: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)
Tie off. Stuff tight with poly-fil. Insert safety eyes between rows 7 and 8 with 4 stitches between them.
Hat:
With G(4mm) hook and burgundy yarn, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)
Row 1: ch 1, 5 sc inside of circle. (5 stitches)
Row 2: Sc in each stitch around. (5 stitches)
Row 3: Inc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)
Rows 4-5: Sc in each stitch around. (10 stitches)
Row 6: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)
Rows 7-8: Sc in each stitch around. (15 stitches)
Row 9: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (20 stitches)
Rows 10-11: Sc in each stitch around. (20 stitches)
Row 12: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 3 stitches, repeat from * around. (25 stitches)
Rows 13-14: Sc in each stitch around. (25 stitches)
Row 15: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 4 stitches, repeat from * around. (30 stitches)
Rows 16-19: Sc in each stitch around. (30 stitches)
Switch to white.
Row 20: Sc in each stitch around. (30 stitches)
Tie off.
Body:
With G(4mm) hook and burgundy yarn, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)
Row 1: ch 1, 10 sc inside of circle. (10 stitches)
Row 2: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next stitch, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)
Row 3: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (20 stitches)
Row 4: *Inc in first stitch, sc in next 3 stitches, repeat from * around. (25 stitches)
Row 5: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 3 stitches, repeat from * around. (20 stitches)
Switch to black.
Rows 6-7: Sc in each stitch around. (20 stitches)
Switch to burgundy.
Rows 8-10: Sc in each stitch around. (20 stitches)
Row 11: *Dec in first 2 stitches, sc in next 2 stitches, repeat from * around. (15 stitches)
Switch to skin tone.
Row 12: Sc in each stitch around. (15 stitches)
Tie off. Stuff tight with poly-fil.
Arms:
With G(4mm) hook and skin colored yarn, ch 3. Sl st to first ch to create circle. (Instead, you can perform the “magic circle” if you’d like.)
Row 1: ch 1, 5 sc inside of circle. (5 stitches)
Row 2: Sc in each stitch around. (5 stitches)
Switch to burgundy.
Rows 3-7: Sc in each stitch around. (5 stitches)
Tie off. Make two. Don’t stuff.
Sew head onto body. Stop before closing it and put more poly-fil in to reinforce the neck. Position and sew arms onto body. Using gold yarn, sew a buckle onto his belt. Pull hat onto head and sew on. Fold hat over and sew end to middle of hat.
Cut white yarn into strips for his beard.
Attach yarn to his face to make his beard. Trim it so it’s all the same length.
Pull each strand of his beard apart to make it frizzy.
